This week, visit the historic battlefield that not only marked the turning point of the Civil War but also the future of the United States of America. Join National Park Service Rangers during the 161st anniversary with various events throughout the three-day anniversary.

July 1 – Start the week with a history hike, national cemetery tour, key moment programs, battle walks, family-friendly programs, and a twilight lantern walk at the end of the day. Some family-friendly programs include painting, building with Legos and molding nearby monuments with clay.

July 2 – Continue the anniversary programming with more key moment programs, battle walks, family-friendly programs and a twilight lantern walk. The battle walks, involving significant walking, will focus on the heavy casualties and troop movements across the hallowed grounds.

July 3 – Finish the anniversary with more key-moment programs, battle walks, family-friendly programs and a twilight lantern walk. The final lantern walk will highlight the aftermath of Pickett’s Charge and those who were lost in the final stages of the battle.
