Join us July 10-13, 2025, in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, for the 2025 National Teacher Institute!
Our annual National Teacher Institute brings together educators from all over the world. This three-and-a-half-day event includes breakout sessions, workshops, lectures, and tours from some of the leading experts in the history and education fields.
National Teacher Institute Participants Can Expect To:
- Gain expertise from museum educators, historians, guides, and keynote speakers through tours, talks, discussions, and hands-on activities.
- Tour the iconic historical sites in the Gettysburg area to fuel field trip ideas.
- Access a vast array of resources to utilize in your classroom.
- Collaborate with educators from across the country to find new ways to bring lessons to life in your classroom.
- Improve historical thinking and research skills.
- Create career-long connections with fellow educators.
- Walk away rejuvenated for the 2025-2026 school year.
Accepted Participants Will Explore:
- Adams County Historical Society/Gettysburg Beyond the Battle Museum
- Civil War Medicine
- Civil War Photography
- Gettysburg National Military Park- Museum, Visitor Center & Cyclorama
- The Gettysburg Address
- The National Civil War Museum-Harrisburg
- The National Museum of Civil War Medicine
- The Seminary Ridge Museum and Education Center
- Virtual and Augmented Reality Classroom Tools
- And more!
Institute Details:
- Attendees must apply and be accepted to attend the 2025 National Teacher Institute.
- The Institute is free to attend, but all participants must place a $150.00 refundable deposit to secure their spot at the institute. Deposits may be refunded upon successful completion of the program.
- A limited number of $1,200 travel scholarships are available to participants. You may apply for a travel scholarship at the same time as applying for the institute.
- The institute will host up to 100 participants.
- Upon completing the Institute, participants will receive a certificate of attendance.
Who Can Attend:
This event is primarily intended for active K-12 educators and administrators, but we also allow the following professionals to attend:
- Full-time K-12 educators and administrators (this does not include retired educators).
- Full-time Museum professionals (this does not include museum volunteers).
- Full-time Librarians.
- Adjunct and full-time college professors & administrators.
Applying to Attend:
- Each applicant must submit a completed application online and be accepted by the program chair.
- The application window for the 2025 In-Person National Teacher Institute opens on December 17, 2024.
- Applicants for the 2025 In-Person National Teacher Institute will be notified of their application status no later than March 28, 2025.

- Application Deadline: March 17, 2025
- Notification of Application Status: March 28, 2025
- Notification of Travel Scholarship Status: April 15, 2025
- Accepted Participant's Decision and Deposit Due: April 30, 2025
- Waitlist Status Notification: May 20, 2025
