Meeting place
Volunteers will assemble in front of the historic Robert Hall Pearson Farmhouse. Work will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end by 3:00 p.m., but volunteers can come anytime after 9:00 and leave anytime before 3:00.
Planned Activities
Volunteers are needed to upgrade nature trails, clear brush, remove invasive plants, pick up litter and debris from winter storms, and generally spruce up the Battlefield and the Park to get ready for this year's touring season. There will be work for both adults and children.
History or Educational Activities
There will be a presentation on the history of the Battle of Black Jack and it's importance to the history of Kansas and the United States.
Should I bring any tools or supplies?
Volunteers should have work gloves, wear sturdy clothing and footwear. They are welcome to bring tools appropriate to the work to be performed.
Is there a rain date?
In the instance of inclement weather, Park Day will continue as planned.
