Planned Activities
Volunteers will be performing cyclic maintenance on the New Salem Church Trail (from the Noses Creek Trail to the New Salem Church ruins). Work will include deberming, cleaning ditches, carefully removing foliage around the New Salem Church foundation, and any trail creeping of vegetation.
History or Educational Activities
Park Ranger will provide history of the area, the New Salem Church, and the community prior to and during the American Civil War.
Should I bring any tools or supplies?
The park will provide all tools and equipment. Water will also be provided. If volunteers would like to bring their own work gloves and water bottles, they are welcome to do so.
Is there a rain date?
In the instance of inclement weather, Park Day will be moved to May 10, 2025.
Please note
Volunteers will need to wear comfortable closed-toe shoes and long pants.
