Meeting place
Volunteers will gather at the Texas State Historical Marker 16 miles east of Brownsville on Highway 4/Boca Chica Blvd. or 6.7 miles east of Oklahoma Avenue at 9:00 AM.
Planned Activities
Volunteers will conduct a litter pickup at two interpretive sites along Hwy 4 before moving to the far end of the Landmark for the dedication of a new Texas Historical Marker dedicated to the United States Colored Troops (USCT) that served in South Texas.
History or Educational Activities
Participants will be provided an orientation to the content interpreted at the two battlefield sites along Highway 4 and a more detailed program on the history of the USCT and its activities in South Texas.
Should I bring any tools or supplies?
Work gloves and your preferred sunscreen are recommended.
Is there a rain date?
In the instance of inclement weather, Park Day will continue as planned.
