For More Information
Meeting place
Join us on the annual Sackets Harbor Central School's Patriot's Pride Day when middle school students help clean up the state historic site.
Planned Activities
Annually, as the historic site staff prepares to open for the season, students from our community school join us to finish cleaning up from winter storms. The historic site's navy yard, history trail, and reforestation area all require final work alongside the site's maintenance team.
History or Educational Activities
Discover the story of the historic site's past by reading the outdoor interpretive panels in the navy yard and along the History Trail. The History Trail is designated by the Department of the Interior as a recreation trail, and as well, it is an official NYS Birding Trail.
Should I bring any tools or supplies?
Please bring work gloves. Site provides rakes, shovel, and trash bags.
Is there a rain date?
In the instance of inclement weather, Park Day will be moved to Monday May 19.
Please note
The Sackets Harbor Battlefield State Historic Site is recognized by the National Park Service as a top War of 1812 site in the nation. The American Battlefield Trust and New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation work together to preserve these strategically important battlegrounds for future generations. Local school students learn this first-hand on I Love My Park - Patriot's Pride Day.
