Meeting place
Volunteers will park at USS Cairo parking lot and meet just inside cemetery gates by the ranger station sometime between 8:30-9 a.m.
Planned Activities
Headstone cleaning within the Vicksburg National Cemetery.
History or Educational Activities
A short educational program led by Park rangers and guides will follow the event, there will also be an opportunity to tour beneath the USS Cairo for a behind the scenes look at the structure.
Should I bring any tools or supplies?
No tools/supplies needed (Park and Friends will provide). Volunteers should bring hats, sunscreen, bug spray, water.
Is there a rain date?
In the instance of inclement weather, Park Day will be moved to May 3, 2025
