Innovative “American Revolution Experience” Continues Successful Florida Run

The interactive exhibit is a collaborative project between the American Battlefield Trust and the Daughters of the American Revolution

(Ocala, Fla.) — The American Battlefield Trust has joined with the Ocala and Ocklawaha chapters, as well as the Great South West Florida Regents Council of the Daughters of the American Revolution to extend the award-winning American Revolution Experience’s run across the Sunshine State through the end of April, inspiring visitors with stories of American’s Revolutionary past.

“We are so proud to partner with the Daughters of the American Revolution to provide this immensely powerful tool to educate the public about American’s founding conflict,” said Trust President David Duncan. “Through this exhibit, Floridians will have the incredible opportunity to connect with those individuals whose sacrifices continue to shape our nation’s spirit.”

“On behalf of our fellow Florida chapters and the Council, we are excited to host this wonderful exhibit in central and southwest Florida and bring to life our Revolutionary history,” added Arlene Pulner of the Great South West Regents Council. “Visitors of all ages will be able to glean something meaningful from the Experience.

The unique and interactive exhibit is concluding its stint Ocala’s Christ the King Anglican Church on March 21, before moving to Mount Dora’s W.T. Bland Public Library through April 5. The exhibit’s last stop in the Sunshine State will be at Fort Meyers’s Sidney and Berne Davis Art Center from April 7 to 25.

“With the 250th anniversary of our country on the horizon, there is no better time to connect Floridians to the inspiring patriots of the past,” said Rep. Kat Cammack, who represents Florida’s 3rd congressional district. “I look forward to welcoming The American Revolution Experience to Ocala.”

The American Revolution Experience will has now visited more than 70 venues across the nation. The traveling display features a series of 12 panels that spotlight individuals deeply touched by the American Revolution and complimented by three digital kiosks containing contextual information about the broader conflict, featuring custom illustrations by artist Dale Watson.

People across the country will get a chance to visit the American Revolution Experience as it continues travelling the United States throughout 2025, introducing visitors to a cast of diverse historical characters with differing experiences and roles they took on during the Revolutionary War. A longer-term installation of the exhibit will remain at the DAR’s national headquarters in Washington, D.C.

The American Revolution Experience first launched online in a digital-only iteration during the summer of 2022. Its success led to widespread recognition, the display winning the Bronze Award in the Education, Art, & Culture division at the second annual Anthem Awards, an initiative of the Webby Awards celebrating purpose and mission-driven work. It was also a finalist in the “People’s Choice” category of the Webby Awards, highlighting its impact among the public. Funding to transform the online product into a physical exhibit suitable for pop-up display at a wide variety of sites came from the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and via a matching grant from the federal American Battlefield Protection Program.
