(Washington, D.C.) — The American Battlefield Trust announced today that it has earned nominations for two prestigious awards, highlighting the non-profit's continued innovation in digital storytelling. The Trust’s “America’s War 1754-1945: Animated Battle Map” video is a nominee in the 46th Annual People’s Telly Awards, while “The Liberty Trail AR” app is up for a Webby People’s Voice Award.
“We are honored by these nominations and grateful to our members and team who make this work possible,” said Trust President David Duncan. “Recognition from the Telly Awards and the Webby Awards is a testament to the power of historical storytelling."
Produced by the award-winning Wide-Awake Films, “America’s Wars 1754-1945”, is a nearly one-hour long production that traces two centuries of American military history, from the French and Indian War to the end of World War II in 1945. The film weaves together narration, historic and modern images, reenactment footage and music to tell the sweeping story of conflicts that shaped the country. It joined a broader series of over 20 animated battle maps created by the Trust, which have collectively earned more than 20 million views. Voting is now open and running until April 18. Vote here.
Merging historical storytelling with groundbreaking technology, “The Liberty Trail Reality Experience” app offers users a front-row seat to Revolutionary-era military tactics and daily soldier life. Through augmented reality, viewers connect with South Carolina’s Revolutionary War history in a uniquely immersive way. The app is nominated in the Apps & Software - Art, Culture and Events category of the 29th Annual Webby Awards. Voting for the Webby People’s Voice is open through April 17. Vote here.
