Morton's Ford
The Federal Army staged several crossings of the Rapidan River to district from a planned cavalry-infantry raid up the Peninsula to Richmond. Union cavalry crossed at Morton's Ford and were greeted by Confederate General Richard Ewell's troops. The battle was inconclusive.
