New Market Heights Battlefield

Most of the Chaffin's Farm area of the Confederate defenses along New Market Road (Virginia Route 5) have been lost to development.  The site is marked with a historic marker on the north side of the road just east of Interstate 295.  Four Mile Creek Park occupies the location of part of the Confederate line. Nearby Fort Harrison, maintained by the Richmond National Battlefield Park, preserves part of the Confederate defensive works and interprets the stories of the Union attacks there.
