Thoroughfare Gap Battlefield
The battlefield at Thoroughfare Gap is accessible from a walking trail adjacent to the ruins of Chapman's Mill, north of modern Interstate 66 on Beverly Mill Drive. The upper floor windows of the mill were used by sharpshooters to defend the pass. Interpretive historic markers and waysides are also on Virginia Route 55 directly south of the mill.
Preservation
The American Battlefield Trust and our members have saved more than 109 acres at Thoroughfare Gap Battlefield.
