This was the site of the Rock Island Prison barracks, a Confederate prison camp. The cemetery contains the graves of nearly two thousand Confederate prisoners. The adjoining national cemetery is the burial place of Union prison guards and military veterans. The museum displays the history of Rock Island Arsenal and features an extensive collection of small arms. Rock Island Arsenal is currently an active U.S. Army Installation.
