Self-guided tour brochures are available at the cemetery's main gate. The site has three large monuments, a flagpole, two cannons and a battle map inlay showing the layout of the battle. A historical marker identifies the site. A battle occurred nearby on December 19, 1862, between Lt. Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest's cavalry and Union troops. Approximately one thousand men were engaged in the two-hour battle.
