Among the museum's holdings is a large and important collection of Civil War materials, including flags, uniforms, firearms, swords, accoutrements, and soldiers' personal gear. A new Civil War exhibit is under development. The temporary Civil War gallery is limited to a group of five paintings by Carl Rochling, including the famous "The Battle of Fredericksburg."
