The park features a variety of natural and cultural resources, including the ruins of the New Manchester Manufacturing Company, a Civil War-era textile mill. Maj. Gen. William T. Sherman's forces burned the mill and the surrounding town during their campaign for Atlanta in 1864. The factory's female workers were deported to the North.
