Tupelo National Battlefield is a one-acre site off of the Natchez Trace Parkway where, from July 14 to 15, 1864, a battle was fought that served to keep Confederate Lt. Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest from altering the supply line that was essential to the success of Union Gen. William T. Sherman. Neither side could claim victory.
