Once the stage for Civil War activity in northern Virginia, the Mosby Heritage Area geographically encompasses what was commonly known as "Mosby's Confederacy." Here Col. John Singleton Mosby led his Rangers in dramatic raids and fought many cavalry battles. Brochures, maps, and audio tours outlining a variety of driving tours in the heritage area's seven Virginia and West Virginia counties are available by contacting the Mosby Heritage Area Association, headquartered in the Rector House.
