Built in 1856 under the supervision of prominent builder Samuel Alsop, the Old Berea Christian Church was scarred by shots and shells during the 1864 Battle of Spotsylvania Court House. Housed in the well-preserved church, the Spotsylvania County Museum's Civil War exhibit includes weaponry, reproduction uniforms, and information on soldier life.
